Blackinkk started with one purpose — to make a front-pocket wallet that feels refined, works hard, and stays slim.
Each piece was hand-cut and hand-stitched, tested at markets and improved through real use. That spirit remains. We reduce, refine, and earn every millimetre, so your daily carry is lighter and simpler.

One thread, a decade long
2013
After a half-day workshop and a humble leather coaster, nights and weekends turn into practice. Hand-cutting and hand-stitching become routine. The idea of a slimmer front-pocket cardholder first emerges — each prototype teaching where bulk hides, and how to remove it.
2015
A small run of handmade Front Pocket Cardholders is introduced at the Brisbane Finders Keepers market. A 1.5m × 1.5m stand, honest conversations, and real-world pockets shape the work. The appetite for a lighter carry becomes clear.
2017
An in-flight article on origami sparks a new approach to structure and access. The Bifold Cardholder takes shape with considered folds and minimal stitching. Materials and finishing begin to standardise, finding a rhythm.
2019
Sketchbooks fill with early studies for work and travel. We begin testing proportions for bags and supporting items, while keeping wallets front and centre. Small prototypes explore structure without weight. A long view for Blackinkk starts to form.
2020
The pandemic presses pause, and we step back. Time with family and smaller, slower batches sharpen the craft. Patterns simplify, waste reduces, the work improves. We prepare for a return when it feels right.
2025
We pick up the thread and focus on what lasts. The Bifold Cardholder wins the Good Design Australia award in Product Design. Two new designs join the range — the Traditional Bifold Wallet and the Key Organiser.
